For people who live in western Washington, we all have a story of what we were doing the day of the storm. You know the one back in August - the crazy winds that caused power to be lost all over the area and the hardest rain downpour I had ever seen. The following weeks resulted in countless conversations about what everyone was doing when it was all going down. For me, I was with these two. They were the best people to be with during such an occasion. When you're around these two, you can't help but feel so chill. They are two of the happiest and most easy-going people I've never had the pleasure of working with. Nothing could ruin their day - it was all about them and nothing else. I was personally really inspired by how they did their wedding day (it was a similar approach to how I handled my own). They didn't follow rules or do anything out of obligation. They didn't have a wedding party, didn't have or cut a formal wedding cake (instead they enjoyed swapping licks from a popsicle truck!), they walked down the isle together... observing them going through their wedding day made me pretty emotional. Their entire focus was on each other, and the results were awesome. Being a wedding photographer, I see countless couples doing things to please others or out of tradition and rarely even spend time with each other during their wedding day. Not these two. It was all about them. We got to spend hours taking our time and shooting their bride and groom portraits and even stopped for some ice cream and arcade games before the ceremony. I must say, if you haven't picked up on it already, this was a special day for me. These two are a VERY special and unique couple, and their wedding 100% reflected that. I was thrilled to capture it all. Enough of my rambling, enjoy this set and see for yourself!
P.S. - You'd never even know there was "the storm of the year" going on during this day based on the photos, the sun was shining and the wind subsided at all the perfect moments. It was meant to be and #lovestormbenny was a pretty awesome day.
