Leo Carrillo Ranch Wedding

Amy and Mike’s wedding at Leo Carrillo Ranch was one I feel like I was waiting for FOREVERRRR and it was amazing. Leo Carrillo Ranch is a special venue to me – before I moved to San Diego, I saw a blog from a wedding there and it was the first time I really felt how much I needed to move and how I KNEW I was suppose to be a photographer in Southern California. I remember seeing the architecture, the light, the cacti and plants, and never feeling more inspired. One month after I moved to San Diego, I heard from Amy, and was so excited to get my own wedding at Leo Carrillo Ranch. A year and a half later – it finally happened and I’ve been so excited to share these images!!!

A bit of a modern day romance – what started on match.com turned into daily long emails about each other’s lives on opposite sides of the country, a 6-hour long phone conversation while Mike drove west to California, and they finally met at San Clemente for their first date eating cheesebugers and enjoying drinks on the pier. The rest, as they say, is history. Years later, they’re enjoying life together in California with their furbaby Norman! Their wedding was such an incredible night with their loved ones surrounding them as they promised each other forever.

Amy originally told me she was dreaming of a romantic night with a touch of bohemian vibes – with minimal décor to let the venue’s beauty shine and not take a way from the style of all the boys in uniform. She pulled this off perfectly. The florals were INCREDIBLE – the orange and green summery palette was perfect at Leo Carrillo! Some of my highlights – the boho rugs running through the ceremony aisle, Amy’s dress had an additional skirt that came off for her party look (so fun), they transformed the lounge area with their neon sign, rugs, and plant basket details, cutting their cake with a SWORD!, their grand entrance into the reception, the orange details of the florals against the pale-blue bridesmaid dresses…. GAHHH. So many great details and intentionality into their day and it was such a gift to shoot!

I had such a blast working with these two over the year and a half and it’s extremely bittersweet that it’s over!!!!
